In this short clip, Liza Frulla talks about how the contraceptive pill represented the ultimate method of liberation for women.
This video is a clip from 75e, elles se souviennent.
The (contraceptive) pill was the ultimate method of liberation for women — the ultimate — because, in nineteen-sixty-four (1964), (a woman) could sign her own lease, (a woman) could open a bank account, (a woman) didn’t need her father or husband as a co-signer, but (a woman still) didn’t have the ultimate form of control over her body.
un bail, lease (can refer, for example, to the lease you sign to rent an apartment)
signer un bail, to sign a lease
cosigner un bail, to co-sign a lease (as a guarantor)
